1V Community Champion Awards 2020

The 1V Community Champions awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations that have excelled in community and voluntary work in Blackburn.

All the winners from 2019

There are four categories, listed below, where we ask members of the public to nominate their person/organisation for the specific award. We ask those making the nominations not to exceed 200 words when making their choices. The closing date for nominations for the 2020 awards is 17th January. A shortlist will be announced later in January 2020 for each award. The winner of each award is announced at the One Voice Annual Dinner, which will take place  on Saturday, 22nd February 2020.

There is one further award – The John Roberts Outstanding Achievement Award. This award is chosen by the Directors of One Voice Blackburn.

1V Young Person of the Year 2020

The 1V Young Person of the Year must have demonstrated leadership, character and service to the community of Blackburn.

The 1V Young Person of the Year should be a role model for the community. He/she must be aware of the challenges facing young people today. Moreover he/she must have a track record of working with many communities of Blackburn. The Young Person of the Year should show determination to make their home town an even better place to live. Special credit will be reserved for those working in the area of integration an cohesion.

To be considered for nomination the individual needs to be 24 years of age or under on 31st December 2019.  NOMINATE NOW

1V Institute of the Year 2020

The 1V Institute of the Year should be an example of how a community-based organisation should be and how to successfully interact with members of all communities to make a tangible difference. They must be able to demonstrate some level of cohesion in their work, to create a more integrated Blackburn. Furthermore, they must have a track record of working in partnership with communities in Blackburn. Organisations that enhance the standing of their local community and town will also be considered in this category. NOMINATE NOW

1V Man of the Year 2020

The 1V Man of the Year should be a role model for the whole community. He must demonstrate a series of activities or programmes which have made a real difference in his community, and the wider area of Blackburn. The 1V Man of the Year must go beyond his paid role(s) to be considered for this award. Furthermore, he must have a record of working in many communities of Blackburn with Darwen. Special credit will go to those that are ambassadors in the area of cohesion and integration. NOMINATE NOW

1V Woman of the Year 2020

The 1V Woman of the Year should be a role model for the whole community. She must demonstrate a series of activities or programmes which have made a real difference in her community or the town. The 1V Woman of the Year must go beyond her paid role(s) to be considered for this award. Furthermore, she must have a record of working in many communities of Blackburn. Special credit will go to those that are ambassadors in the area of cohesion and integration. NOMINATE NOW
