Festive Video 2018

As part of an ongoing community cohesion and integration initiative One Voice Blackburn have produced a festive message for 2018.

The video ‘I’m a Muslim and I Love the Festive Period’ hears from seven members of the Blackburn Muslim community talking about their enjoyment of the Christmas period.

Members of the Muslim community shared their feelings about the festive period

The organisation planned the project, which follows their Ramadan project earlier in the year ‘I’m Not a Muslim But I Will Fast for One Day’. The Ramadan initiative has been running since 2014, and was recently awarded with a ‘Highly Commended Award’ in a national marketing camapign.

The content of the festive project includes individuals talking about Christmas being a time for togetherness, as well as the warm atmosphere in all communities at this time of year.

The video will be primarily promoted on social media. It will also be sent to various agencies to promote cohesion in the Borough.

Director of the video and Chief Executive of One Voice, Zaffer Khan, said

“It is important to challenge myths and perceptions that the festive period is not enjoyed by the Muslim community. The video highights that this is a magical time of year for all communities.”
