WHAT IS THE ANNUAL DINNER?
The Annual Dinner takes place each year to celebrate the work of One Voice, it’s groups and the wider Blackburn and Darwen community. The event also hosts the 1V Community Champion Awards. The first annual showpiece event took place in 2013.
The event comprises of key-note speeches, presentations by various One Voice groups, project updates, and is concluded with a three course meal. The annual gathering has most recently been held at the Windsor Suite, part of King George’s Hall in Blackburn.

Each year a member of West End Girls (WEGs) hosts the prestigious event with an audience of nearly 300. In 2017, St Wilfrid;s student Safah Layla took to the stage at the age of 14!
The dinner attracts some of the most influential people within the Blackburn and Darwen communities, but maintains a community feel at its core.

A number of local organisations sponsor the Annual Dinner including Blackburn College, HPA Solicitors, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Humraaz Refuge.
The event also hosts the 1V Community Champions Awards. these include the Man and Woman of the Year awards, alongside Youth and Institute awards, as well as an Outstanding Achievement. Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council sponsor a Leadership Award that is presented on the evening.
