Speakers Annual Dinner 2020


Volunteers and community workers will be honoured at the One Voice Annual Dinner through the 1V Community Champion Awards.

The awards, in their eighth year, celebrate the very best of community people and groups in Blackburn and Darwen. Awards include Young Person, Institute, Man and Woman of the Year 2020.

The eighth One Voice Annual Dinner will include the 1V Community Champion Awards and the Leader’s Award.

The dinner will reflect the work of One Voice Blackburn over the previous 12 months and will be hosted by 15-year-old student Sifa Turi.

The Annual Dinner is sponsored by Our Community Our Future, HPA Solicitors, Blackburn College, Our Lancashire, Humraaz and Together Housing.

Michelle Park

A key-note speech will be delivered by Michelle Park, board member of Together Housing.

Michelle said, “Together Housing a non-profit organisation, meaning any money we make is invested back into the company for the benefit of our residents and local communities. Not only do we provide homes, but we fund a variety of voluntary and community projects and groups to help improve lives, promote community cohesion and create opportunities for local people.

“Organisations like One Voice Blackburn are crucial to ensuring we achieve these aims and this annual celebration is a reflection of the valuable work One Voice does in partnership with many sections of the local community.”

In addition, Dr. Fazal Dad, Principal of Blackburn College will also be talking at the event about education, the College and their relationship with One Voice.

Also speaking at the Annual Dinner is One Voice Alumni member Adnan Raja. Adnan said,

“It’s a personal honour to be speaking at the OneVoice Annual Dinner. The development of young people is of immense importance to Blackburn and I’m thrilled to be celebrating these achievements with the One Voice family.”

Zaffer Khan, Chief Executive of One Voice Blackburn, said, “We are looking forward to hearing from our guest speakers and listening to their inspiring words.

“The Annual Dinner is a wonderful way to celebrate the tireless work being done by members of the community and voluntary organisations. It is the firm commitment of these volunteers that help make positive changes in our society.”

The One Voice Annual Dinner will take place on Saturday, 22 February at King George’s Hall, Blackburn.
